Solomia Bobrovska told Realist news outlet, Censor.NET reports.
According to the official, the staff of the Regional State Administration was not surprised by the governor's decision.
"Mikheil Saakashvili's decision to resign did not surprise us in general. We expected it against the backdrop of all political trendiness demonstrated by Kyiv. Three verticals of power are actually being replaced by Bankova (Presidential Administration - Ed.) in Odesa now," Boborovska said.
Asked whether Saakashvili was going to join Khvylia Party, she could not give a clear answer: "He remains involved in the politics and is going to build a political force in the region. It will obviously not be affiliated with Petro Poroshenko Bloc. Saakashvili started creating a party but we should better wait for him making the relevant statement himself," she said.
Saakashvili's deputy said she was ready to support the former governor's political course, but was not going to resign.
"I am going to support him in political terms. But our current objective is to keep running the region as best as we can," Bobrovska said.
