"I believe in God. All the rest is unfortunately in many respects depends on Kremlin's consistency and responsibility. Hoping for that is self-deception and stupidity. Putin and his allies don't see Ukraine as an independent and democratic state. A strong Ukraine is like an undertaker for their regime, their future. So when they say we can fix it with Putin, I don't believe it," Turchynov stressed.
"But on the other hand, we have no alternative to the Minsk process. All the same, it is the only platform that allows us to use diplomatic and political methods of influence on the Russian Federation. No other is out there. There is no alternative. I don't exclude the time will come when the degenerating granny Russia, mutilated by economic and political leprosy, will come crawling to negotiate a peaceful solution to the situation," the NSDC secretary said.
"To this end, it's necessary that the sanctions system become more rigid and the unity of Europe persist. The new U.S. administration should finally realize its responsibility for the processes that began long before today, in the center of which the United States stood. The mix of all this should work out," Turchynov noted.
