 Novynskyi suspected of kidnapping, abuse of power along with Yanukovych, Zakharchenko, Koriak, - PGO

The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) suspects people's deputy Vadym Novynskyi of committing crimes under part 2, article 146 (unlawful imprisonment or kidnapping) and part 1, article 365 (abuse of power or official authority by a law enforcer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As noted, the PGO is carrying out a pre-trial investigation under criminal proceedings in relation to the fact of abuse of power and official authority by former top-ranking public officials (Yanukovych, Zakharchenko, Novynskyi, Koriak) as well as other Kyiv law enforcement employees during the unlawful confinement of Archbishop Oleksandr (Drabynko), personal assistant of the now deceased Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Volodymyr (Sabodan).

"The investigators have gathered sufficient evidence to prove MP Novynskyi's involvement in the said criminal offense.

"Hence, on Nov. 3, 2016, the procedural supervisor issued a motion asking for consent to bring MP Novynskyi to criminal liability, which was supported by the prosecutor general," the statement reads.
