Even if Trump wins, society will oppose alliance with war criminal Putin, - Atlantic Council

If Republican candidate Donald Trump wins the U.S. presidential election, the Congress and the public may oppose his intentions to negotiate with the Kremlin.

Censor.NET reports referring to ZN.UA quoting Atlantic Council expert Adrian Karatnycky.

According to Karatnycky, Trump's policy is based on self-interest rather than principles or geopolitical strategy.

The expert believes Trump has obviously got the idea fixe that a dialogue and cooperation with Russia is needed in order to overcome Islamic radicalism, and that Putin is a strong leader who will respect Trump.

But the problem is that Putin is a war criminal, and Americans will not tolerate an alliance with a war criminal, Karatnycky says, adding that both the public and the Congress will show significant resistance to such efforts of Trump.
