The first road concessions (highways built by private investors) may appear in Ukraine in 2017 - 2018 and will be constructed as an alternative to the existing roads.

"It is possible to build turnpike roads, the so-called road concessions (in Ukraine - Ed.). They can only be constructed as an alternative to the existing free-of-charge roads. There is potential interest demonstrated by certain large European investors as well as Chinese ones who are willing to enter the Ukrainian market with the relevant offers," Omelian said.

According to the Infrastructure Minister, the first toll highways will be operational in Ukraine in 2017-2018.
