European low-cost carriers to enter Ukraine in second half of 2017, - Minister Omelian

Next year will see European low-cost companies entering the Ukrainian aviation market.

This was announced by Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian on air of 5 Channel, Censor.NET reports.

"We are now working to ensure that next year will be the year of low-cost carriers. We are somewhat hampered by lack of the open skies agreement with the European Union. I hope this will not be a major obstacle, at least one airport will definitely please us with a very famous European low-cost airline. I'd really like to have several of them, not just one," the official said.

"Such plans exist, we are currently holding talks. But you should keep in mind it takes at least a year from the beginning of the talks, which started this August, till their [airlines' - ed.] actual operation on routes. Therefore, it is the second half of 2017," Omelian said on possible dates of low-cost airlines operation launch in Ukraine.
