Netherlands to proceed with consultations on EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, - Poroshenko

The Netherlands has not stopped the ratification of the EU-Ukraine partnership deal.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

"Nov. 1 was established as the final date of the consultations on the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, considering the results of the Dutch referendum. Many skeptics, and not only in Ukraine, expected the Netherlands to announce its decision on the termination of the ratification.

"In recent days, we have been able to conduct intensive negotiations with our EU partners. I've personally had a dozen of telephone conversations, including with presidents Tusk, Juncker and Schulz, as well as with Dutch Prime Minister Rutte.

"Everyone should remember that the association agreement, in the development of which I was honored to be personally involved, has not only an economic and political importance but also a symbolic one. Because it is a symbol of Ukraine's development and progress, the compass of our reforms. It is therefore important that the Netherlands do not stop the ratification and continue consultations," Poroshenko wrote.
