Poroshenko calls on Ukrainian business to raise salaries by 20-30 percent

President Petro Poroshenko urged Ukraine's business representatives to increase the salaries of Ukrainians by 20-30 percent due to the unified social tax reduction to 22 percent starting this year.

The head of state said at a meeting of the National Reform Council, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

"The salaries should be increased at least by 20-30 percent," Poroshenko said.

According to the president, the tax burden on the companies' payroll budgets is 23 percent less today, which, in his opinion, should lead to an increase in salaries. "I have only one request: give it to your employees," Poroshenko called on.

He added that this would increase the citizens' purchasing power as well as boost revenues to local budgets from individual income tax. "This is a powerful incentive for us to strive for reporting real salaries and stop paying them in envelopes," Poroshenko said.
