 Ukrainians apprehended in Transnistria are not employees of State Border Guard Service, - spokesman Slobodian

Ukrainian citizens apprehended the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic did not spy in the unrecognized state.

Spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Oleh Slobodian announced, Censor.NET reports citing Hromadske Radio.

"According to our information, these people did not conduct any military surveillance and were not involved in other military activities," he said.

"They were just apprehended somewhere near the state border and are presented by Russian representatives of the Transnistrian segment of Moldova as military spies," Slobodian added.

According to him, the apprehended Ukrainians remain in Transnistria.

"Citizen Maliuta is not involved into any military service, including the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He only worked seasonally as a fireman in one of the departments," the spokesman said.

As reported earlier, the State Security Committee (KGB) of the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic claims that its officers apprehended an employee of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Mykhailo Maliuta.
