 Ukrainian soldiers engaged enemy subversive group near Stanytsia Luhanska following two-hour shelling, - local authorities

The Russian terrorist forces attacked positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine detachments in Luhansk direction four times over the past day. The active hostilities previously recorded at Popasna section of the forefront shifted in the vicinity of Stanytsia Luhanska.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was stated by the press service of the Luhansk Regional Civil and Military State Administration.

"The illegal armed groups opened fire with small arms near the villages of Novooleksandrivka and Novozvanivka in the Popasna district yesterday after 7 p.m. The pro-Russian mercenaries attacked our positions near Stanytsia Luhanska twice with 82 mm mortars, grenade launchers and high-caliber machine guns from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.," the report reads.

It is noted that the Russian terrorist troops already accurately fired at the Ukrainian soldiers on the outskirts of Stanytsia Luhanska with 82 mm mortars and small arms today, Oct. 20: "The soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were forced to engage the enemy during one of the strikes which lasted more than two hours.

"15 strong enemy's reconnaissance and sabotage group crossed the Siverskyi Donets River from the direction of the so-called Prince Ihor Mount around 1 a.m. and tried to approach the defenders of the Luhansk region as close as possible. The enemy saboteurs were forced to retreat after accurate retaliation fire of our military and successfully suppressed gun nests," Regional Civil and Military State Administration Head Yurii Harbuz commented on the recent developments.

According to preliminary data, the terrorists incurred losses. No battle casualties were reported among the Ukrainian troops over the past day.

As earlier reported by the ATO Staff press center, the militants committed 30 attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian troops over the last 24-hour period.
