As noted, on Oct. 17, the court has delivered first verdict against four participants in the seizure of the building of the Kharkiv regional state administration in early April 2014. Two men, born in 1983 and 1987, have been sentenced to five years in prison. Two others, born in 1986 and 1983, have received the same prison term with a three-year probation. The verdict has not come into force pending appeal.
According to Ihor Chub, the region's prosecutor, the total of 64 persons face verdicts in criminal proceedings into those events.
As previously reported, during April 6-7, 2014, rallies took place outside the Kharkiv regional state administration, which escalated into riots. The pro-Russian activists seized the building of the administration. Interior Ministry special forces stormed the building and apprehended the intruders.
