 Russian terrorist forces in Mariupol direction placed on high alert, barred to leave military units, - Defense Intelligence Agency

The escalation of the situation in Mariupol direction maintains its increasing trend.

Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Defense Ministry.

According to the Ukrainian Intelligence Agency, the detachments of the 9th Marines Separate Assault Motorized Rifle Regiment (Novoazovsk) of the 1st Army Corps (Donetsk) of the Russian Armed Forces have been put on high alert. The military personnel were barred from leaving permanent places of deployment.

"The combat crews of the howitzer battery of the Separate Artillery Brigade (Donetsk) of the 1st Army Corps of the Russian Armed Forces, mortar batteries of the 1st and 2nd Separate Motorized Rifle Battalions (120 mm mortars), and self-propelled artillery battalion of the 9th Marines Separate Assault Motorized Rifle Regiment conducted strikes on the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces' positions near Vodiane, Lebedynske, and Shyrokyne," the report reads.

The intelligence agency also noted that the enemy stepped up reconnaissance operations in order to reconnoiter changes in combat formations at the forefront and tactical depth of the ATO forces' defense in Mariupol direction.

"The activities of six tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (two of them were shot down by the ATO forces) as well as several subversive and reconnaissance groups of the 9th Marines Separate Assault Motorized Rifle Regiment leaving for combat missions were recorded. Two more groups of saboteurs are to be sent on missions Oct. 17," the agency reported.

Earlier, the Russian terrorists committed 61 assaults on the ATO forces' positions over the past 24-hour period.
