Censor.NET reports citing the latest update by the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) Staff press center as at 6 a.m. on Oct. 17.
According to the Staff, the enemy breached truce 29 times in Luhansk direction. The invaders employed 120 mm and 82 mm mortars, grenade launchers, machine guns and small arms against the ATO forces' positions on the outskirts of Novooleksandrivka, Krymske, Bohuslavske, Novozvanivka and Orikhove. Popasna was also shelled with 122 mm artillery.
"23 provocations against the ATO forces were recorded in Mariupol direction. The occupation forces attacked the Ukrainian troops' positions in the vicinity of Hranitne, Novotroitske, Pavlopil, and Talakivka with large-caliber machine guns, grenade launchers and small arms. Marinka came under strikes with mortars and 122 mm cannon artillery. The militants shelled Vodiane and Lebedynske with 152 mm cannons. The enemy snipers attacked the soldiers Armed Forces of Ukraine near Krasnohorivka and Shyrokyne. The invaders also employed 120 mm mortars, machine guns, and small arms against the ATO forces deployed in these areas," the situation report reads.
Moreover, the ATO press center reported about nine attacks committed by the Russian terrorists against the Ukrainian positions in Donetsk direction: "The enemy fired upon Druzhkivka, Zaitseve, and Novhorodske with small arms, machine guns and grenade launchers, shelled Luhanske and Verkhniotoretske with 82 mm mortars. Troitske village came under strikes from 120 mm mortars and artillery."
As previously reported, the Russian-occupation forces fired upon the Ukrainian defenders' positions 43 times Oct. 15.
