President Petro Poroshenko announced it at the oath-taking ceremony of cadets from Ivan Bohun Kyiv Military Lyceum, Censor.NET reports citing LІGA.net.
"During this year, the army has received some 2,000 pieces of arms and military hardware," he said.
According to Poroshenko, engineers and heads of defense enterprises have been tasked to develop and produce new missiles, cruise missile systems, artillery systems, precision-guided munitions, unmanned combat aerial vehicles, space reconnaissance, electronic and counter-battery equipment.
"We can now afford only part of what our military-industrial complex has to offer. Nevertheless, we are going to spend 11 billion hryvnia for the purchase and repair of weapons next year," he added.
The president also noted that tomorrow he will continue the tradition of public handing over of military equipment to the army.
"This time we are talking about combat and transport aircraft, missile and artillery systems, tanks, IFVs, APCs, trucks and logistics support vehicles," Poroshenko said.
