 Contest committee elects Oleksandr Horhan Kyiv region governor

The Contest Committee for Senior Government Officials selected Oleksandr Horhan the chairman of Kyiv Regional State Administration.

The decision was taken at the committee's meeting Oct. 11, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

Oleksandr Horhan is the current chairman of Kyiv region's Vyshgorod District State Administration.

The contest committee also selected Kyiv region's Vasylkiv District Council Chairwoman Natalia Balasynovych a reserve candidate. She can be appointed Kyiv region Governor during a year if Horhan fails special test, refuses the appointment, or in case of force majeure.

The contestants of the final stage of the competition (interview) included former chairman of the Kyiv Regional Council of the 6th convocation, a representative of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform Party headed by Vitalii Klitschko Mykola Babenko, Chairman of Kyiv region's Boryspil District State Administration Dmytro Voronin, and chairman of Nemishaieve Village Council in the Borodianka district of the Kyiv region Serhii Zamidra.

The total of 25 candidates applied for the post of the Kyiv region governor.

July 13, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the composition of the Contest Committee for Senior Civil Service Staff designated to select nominees for senior government positions.
