 SOF training center already operational, studies kick off Nov. 15, - Commander

Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SOF) training center has been put into operation.

Ihor Luniov, the SOF commander, said at a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"Our concept stipulates the creation of a set of tools and forces by May 2017. We have already completed this task. Special purpose units, and information and psychological operations units have come under my command," he said.

According to Luniov, the SOF military are working to improve operation planning capabilities and relevant combat skills.

In addition, a Special Operations Forces training center has recently opened its doors.

On Nov. 15, the first group of cadets will start training.

According to the commander, more than 300 candidates have applied for enrollment in the Special Operations Forces.

Only one out of eight candidates passes the selection.

As previously reported, President Petro Poroshenko instructed the Defense Ministry to complete the creation of the Special Operations Forces by 2018.
