Censor.NET reports citing Livyi Bereh's interview with Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak.
"In 2015, we adopted the Military Doctrine with clear tasks. The first one is European vector. The second - becoming NATO member. We are working on it. Regarding the status of NATO's special partner - we have this task by Ukraine's president to work on it. But we have to prove our colleagues, including those from the Alliance, that we have a clear vision of the reforms in the Armed Forces, the Defense Ministry, as long as they are inevitable," Poltorak said.
"We are having talks with the United States. By the end of the month we will have a high-level adviser coming [to Ukraine] who will assist on rapprochement and cooperation with the U.S.," the defense minister said.
Answering a question whether Ukraine has chance to become the 17th country with the status of the U.S.'s key ally outside NATO, Poltorak said: "I believe it does. And the chance is strong!"
