Since the beginning of 2016, Russian-hybrid forces have committed more than 12,000 cease-fire violations, killing 173 Ukrainian soldiers, Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak said during a visit to Sweden.

The minister met with Chief of Defense Staff, Lt. Gen. Dennis Gyllensporre in Stockholm and told him about the situation in eastern Ukraine caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.

"Today, Russia keeps pursuing the line of deliberate escalation of the conflict," Poltorak said.

"Since the beginning of 2016, Russian occupation troops have committed more than 12,000 attacks against the Ukrainian army, killing 173 servicemen. Some 6,000 Russian military have been illegally deployed in Ukraine's territory," the minister remarked.
