 Moscow-arrested Ukrainian journalist Sushchenko pleads not guilty, - lawyer Feygin

Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko, who has been arrested in Russia's capital on charges of espionage, pleaded not guilty after a few days in prison.

Censor.NET reports quoting Sushchenko's lawyer Mark Feygin's Twitter.

"So, Sushchenko pleads not guilty!" he wrote.

The lawyer also stressed he had finally met with Roman Sushchenko in Lefortovo prison.

Earlier, members of Moscow's Public Monitoring Commission found Ukrinform news agency correspondent Roman Sushchenko in Lefortovo prison. The Lefortovo court of Moscow arrested the journalist on charges of espionage (article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) for two months.

Later, Ukraine's Information Policy Ministry confirmed the detention of Sushchenko. The ministry said its legal department was collecting necessary information on the circumstances and reasons for the detention.

In turn, the FSB claims Ukrainian journalist Sushchenko is an agent of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's MoD.
