Kyiv residents downvote construction over Heroiv Dnipra metro station

Several hundred residents of the Obolonskyi district of Kyiv voted against the construction of the shopping center over the Heroiv Dnipra metro station at the public hearing on Thursday, Sept. 29.

Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"We have just formalized a new action group. We will draw up a protocol evidencing that everyone except for one person has voted against the construction above Heroiv Dnipra metro station. It will be formalized and signed by all the members of the action group. More than 300 people present here have downvoted the construction," representative of the citizen action group opposing construction atop Heroiv Dnipra metro station Oksana Karpenko said.

The public hearing was held outside the school No. 170 at 8 Pivnichna Str. on Thursday. It was attended by residents of the Obolonskyi district, officials of the District State Administration and subway management representatives, as well as members of the Kyiv City Council and certain MPs.

The public consultations started behind the schedule as the school hall designated for it turned out to be too small. Hence, it was decided to hold the hearing outside the school.

According to the activists, the vote result will be submitted to the Kyiv City State Administration for the study.
