As reported by Censor.NET citing the press office of the president, Poroshenko expressed gratitude to the president of the European Council for consistent personal support for Ukraine in its struggle against the Russian aggression and implementation of reforms.
Poroshenko informed on the developments in the Donbas and the efforts of Ukraine in the implementation of the Minsk agreements in the context of discussion of future relations between the EU and Russia during the European Council's session of October 20-21.
"We count on preservation of solidarity with Ukraine and continuation of sanction pressure on Russia until full restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," the head of state emphasized.
Donald Tusk welcomed successful efforts of the Ukrainian authorities on the track of reforms, supported by the IMF decision to renew the program of cooperation with Ukraine. He called that a positive signal of support for the real progress in reforms, including struggle against corruption.
"I would like to reiterate that the EU is willing to further provide comprehensive support to Ukraine on the track of economic growth, reforms and countering aggression," the president of the European Council said.
The leaders coordinated approaches on completion of ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, as well as prompt approval of the decision on introduction of the visa-free regime for Ukrainians by the European Parliament and the EU Council.
The parties have also discussed the schedule of political dialogue at the highest level on the Ukraine-EU line until the end of the year including possible dates for a regular summit.
