As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by Defense Ministry spokesperson on ATO (anti-terrorist operation) matters Andrii Lysenko at a news briefing on Tuesday.
"Over the past 24-hour period, the enemy violated the cease-fire 40 times. Despite preliminary agreements, militants prevent international observers from their work along the contact line and in areas designated for troops and hardware withdrawal," he said.
Lysenko noted that the militants violated the truce in their 'favorite' hot spots - Stanytsia Luhanska and Popasna district, the Luhansk region. The gangs, Lysenko said, opened fire upon ATO forces' positions 10 times there, used small arms only.
According to the spokesperson, mortar shelling banned by Minsk accords was again recorded at Donetsk direction:
"Militants fired 18 shells from 120 mm mortars and from armored vehicles near Nyzhnie Lozove. They also launched six shells near Zaitseve. Armed provocations on the part of the enemy continue in Zaitseve, Troitske, Verkniotoretske and Avdiivka.
"The militants opened fire against the ATO forces at Donetsk direction 12 times."
Lysenko also noted that militants got more active at Mariupol direction after record low number of provocations there on Sept. 25.
"Two thirds of the provocations occurred in Marinka - there, the enemy employed light weapons and snipers. It was unquiet near Pavlopil and Shyrokyne. At Starohnativka, the militants opened fire from an IFV once. The total of 18 cases of fire were recorded at Mariupol direction," the spokesperson summed up.
