No need in seventh wave of mobilization, - Defense Ministry

Thanks to successful campaign for hiring contract soldiers, there is no need in announcing another wave of partial mobilization to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by the Defense Ministry's press service.

"Since the beginning of the year, about 53,000 military have signed contracts with the Ukrainian Army. More than 6,000 of them are officers. Several thousand persons have also been selected and will sign the contract after they finish the required training. This makes for 6,000 contract soldiers coming into the Armed Forces of Ukraine monthly.

"Given the trend, 15 to 18 thousand contract soldiers are planned to be enrolled in the Army by the end of the year," the message reads.

The ministry also noted that this should allow dismissing the sixth (the most recent) wave of mobilization without announcing the next round of draft.

The defense agency announced the launch of the fall military draft campaign aimed at drafting about 14,000 army conscripts. All of them will undergo training and be deployed in non-combat military units outside of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Earlier, President Poroshenko signed the decree on dismissal of the sixth-wave-drafted soldiers on Sept. 26.
