 "State must award such people," – Ukrainian president talked to driver who prevented cop killer’s escape in Dnipro City

The Ukrainian president held a telephone conversation with Valerii Tymonin, the Dnipro City driver who heroically tried to prevent the murderer of two patrol police officers from fleeing the scene.

As reported by Censor.NET, Petro Poroshenko wrote on Facebook.

The president wrote: "I called Valerii Tymonin who helped the Dnipro City police to apprehend the criminal. I thanked the man whose act proved that Ukrainians did not become indifferent despite the war and all the hardships.

"I will definitely meet with Valerii to thank him personally. Such people must be awarded by the state," Poroshenko stressed.

As reported, a traffic law violator shot a patrol officer dead and wounded his female partner in Dnipro City Sunday morning. According to preliminary information, the patrol crew stopped a Citroen car for violation of traffic rules. The driver began to resist the police officers, made a few shots, and fled the scene. A male patrol officer died on spot, while his female partner officer did not survive a surgery. Later, the interior minister confirmed detention of a suspect in the murder.
