 Disengagement is only way for sustainable stabilization of situation in Donbas, OSCE’s Hug says

OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to Ukraine Principal Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug believes that the disengagement of troops and hardware of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the armed groups of certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine is the only way to stabilize the situation for extended period of time.

He said at a news briefing in Luhansk, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

According to the monitor, if the warring parties are close to each other, the tension in these areas becomes very high. He believes the only way to stabilize the situation for extended period of time is to disengage the troops.

Hug added that the situation along the Siverskyi Donets River (the Luhansk region), which is a terrain obstacle, was more calm.

The principal deputy chief monitor noted that the clashes between the adversaries took place close to the demarcation line.
