 City council bars Kyiv stores from selling alcohol between 11 p.m. and 10 a.m.

The Kyiv City Council decided to ban sales of alcohol, low-alcohol beverages, and beer in retail store networks between 11 p.m. and 10 a.m.

86 members of the council with a minimum of 61 required supported the decision, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

The City Council recommends the Kyiv police to intensify efforts to avoid drinking alcohol, low-alcohol beverages, and beer in public places including streets, sports facilities, and public transport.

The city council also recommends the regulatory authorities to request the licensing authorities to revoke liquor licenses from business entities violating the ban imposed by this decision.

The implementation of this decision requires no budget expenditures.

It is expected that this decision will contribute to the alcohol consumption reduction and decrease the number of crimes committed in a drunken state.
