Russian media reported of the incident citing own sources in the country's law enforcement agencies, Censor.NET reports.
According to him, the incident occurred at Veterok restaurant in Gorki-2 village Monday night. An unidentified person entered the restaurant and started shooting at two visitors. One of them died on the spot while the other was critically injured and hospitalized.
There were reportedly two attackers. They used a yellow Nissan and a dark-colored unidentified car to escape. According to the media, the killed person turned out to be leader of Oplot terrorists Yevgeny Zhilin. His companion Andrey Kozyrev was taken to a nearby hospital.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) earlier reported that Zhilin was hiding on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Oplot was the Kharkiv-based NGO that emerged from a fight club with the same name. Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said that Oplot members were involved in abduction and torture of activists as well as the mass arson attack on cars in Kyiv during Euromaidan events.
Moreover, one of the Oplot leaders Alexander Zakharchenko now runs the "Donetsk People's Republic" terrorist organization.
In March 2014, the Prosecutor's Office of the Kharkiv region initiated criminal proceedings against Oplot leader Yevgeny Zhilin. He was charged of embezzlement of public funds through fictitious firms. Besides, the SBU served Zhilin a notice of suspicion of financing terrorists in April 2015.
July 6, 2015 the Prosecutor General's Office served Yevgeny Zhilin a notice of suspicion of committing crimes under part 4 of article 296, part 2 of article 146, part 2 of article 186, part 1 of article 129 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was put on the wanted list and the court issued arrest warrant for him. Two suspects in the same case were imposed pre-trial custody.
