 Three patrol officers dismissed, four underwent disciplinary action, battalion commander downgraded for inaction in conflict with drunken rowdies in Mykolaiv

Three National Police officers have been dismissed due to their failure to cope with drunken brawlers in Mykolaiv downtown on the night of Aug. 30.

Patrol Police Department First Deputy Chief Oleksii Biloshytskyi said at a briefing on Monday, Censor.NET reports citing Prestupnosti.NET.

"Upon the results of internal investigation, three police officers have been fired, one commander has been downgraded, that is, he is no longer battalion commander, four officers have undergone disciplinary action for professional inadequacy," he said.

As reported earlier, at around 1 a.m. Aug. 30, several drunken men put up a brawl in Mykolaiv downtown. They beat up a taxi driver, used foul language and attacked passers-by. Five police crews arrived at the scene but failed to calm the conflict. According to witnesses, patrol officers ignored the beating of people as well as threats and insults by the brawlers.
