 Latvian-confiscated €50M of former Ukrainian officials could be returned to Ukraine under European Council and UN conventions, - PGO

Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine states it is possible to return almost 50 million euro belonging to former Ukrainian officials which had been frozen on bank accounts and subsequently confiscated in Latvia.

This was announced by Deputy Prosecutor General Yevhen Yenin to Ukrainski Novyny, Censor.NET reports.

He said such possibility is provided by conventions regarding the matter by the European Council and the United Nations.

Yenin said he would visit Riga, Latvia, on Sept. 14 to discuss the issue.

The deputy prosecutor general added that the problem is not in the Latvian court's decision, but in other matters that need to be solved.
