Censor.NET reports citing the Ukrainian Navy press service.
"Ukraine has lost yet one more faithful son. Our comrade, unit commander, Captain 3rd Rank Oleh Medynskyi was killed while on a combat mission to protect Ukraine's independence and territorial integrity," the statement reads.
As noted, Medynskyi dedicated his life to the defense of the motherland.
"After many years of service in Naval Special Forces, he retired to reserve. But when the country was invaded, Captain 3rd Rank Oleh Medynskyi took up arms and went to the ATO area in 2014. Heroes do not die!"
In his lifetime, Medynskyi was awarded the Order for Valor of 3rd grade by the president of Ukraine. He is also the owner of the 1st dan in karate.
The body of the hero has been taken to a morgue of Mariupol, according to Prestupnosti.NET.
