 PGO indicts ex-police officers for persecution of Maidan activists

The Special Investigations Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) has served indictments against former Kyiv police officers on charges of fabrication of case materials, illegal detention and prosecution of 11 obviously innocent people for their alleged involvement in riots on Feb. 18, 2014.

As reported by Censor.NET citing the PGO press service, indictments have been served against the then first deputy head of the Dniprovskyi police precinct in Kyiv-head of the investigation department, the deputy head of the investigation department and two investigators. Their offices and places of residence have been searched.

The prosecution asks the court to uphold custody and house arrest as pre-trial restraints against the suspects as well as to order their suspension.

As previously reported, two investigators of the above precinct, the former deputy prosecutor of the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv and a prosecutor of the Kyiv prosecutor's office were indicted on the same charges.
