 Shooting in Dnipro: Yuzhmash miller wounded two National Guard soldiers during detention

A miller of Makarov Southern Machine-Building Plant (Yuzhmash) wounded two National Guard officers who tried to arrest him while attempting to steal a large amount of non-ferrous metal. The attacker has been apprehended.

Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the National Guard.

The man was not behaving aggressively and
executed commands during the arrest, but suddenly pulled out a gun and opened fire at the soldiers. Two members of the National Guard received injuries. One of them was shot in the face; the other bullet stuck in his body armor. The second serviceman was shot tangentially into the abdomen without penetration.

The attacker tried to escape, but was arrested by a rescue group that arrived. He appeared to be a previously convicted resident of the Dnipro city born in 1962. He refused to give any explanations.

Criminal proceedings under Article 15 (attempted crime) and part 2 of Article 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine have been opened. Maximum penalty according to the articles is life imprisonment.

The wounded soldiers received medical treatment. Their lives and health are not in danger. The officers were put forward for state decorations.
