Asked by MP Semen Semenchenko at a meeting of the Committee on Defense and National Security whether the Ukrainian troops received the order to retreat, Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko said that the actions of the generalship were not consistent with the situation, Censor.NET reports.
"The experts believe that the intelligence on 1,200 militants with equipment amassed in Ilovaisk was ignored," the prosecutor general noted.
Lutsenko added that no mission order for the Ukrainian troops to retreat was recorded.
"The investigators have testimonies of Muzhenko and Khomchak that they spoke with the General Staff of the Russian Federation on the safe escape route for the Ukrainian military. However, the investigators have not found the relevant documents," he said.
He noted that the investigators found nothing criminal in the actions of the Ukrainian generalship since a request for safe escape route had historical precedents.
Lutsenko also stressed treachery of the Russian army as it destroyed troops moving by the "safe" escape route.
