 Kremlin supports Donbas cease-fire agreement, - Putin's spokesperson Peskov

Russian president Vladimir Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Moscow welcomed the agreement on the cease-fire in the Donbas.

"The Kremlin supports the agreement reached by the Contact group on settling the situation in the southeast of Ukraine on ceasing fire along the contact line due to the beginning of the school year, which enters into force at midnight Aug. 31," Peskov said.

He expressed hopes this cease-fire will promote the general process of the Minsk agreements implementation.

"We expect this step will be supported by real activities by the Ukrainian side on development and implementation of bills on special status of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as the bills on amnesty and local elections in the Donbas," Peskov said.
