 Criminal case to be launched into drunken rich kids' affray in Mykolaiv, - Herashchenko

Criminal proceedings will be instituted into the fact of immoral behavior of drunken representatives of the so-called "elite youth," who staged a brawl and attacked passers-by in Mykolaiv downtown. As for the police officers who declined to perform their duties, they will be fired upon the results of official investigation.

MP and interior minister's adviser Anton Herashchenko wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"I spoke with new chief of the Mykolaiv police Yurii Moroz. He will take the strictest measures though within the law... An administrative report will be issued under article 173 (foul language) of the Administrative Code of Ukraine. The article provides for up to 15 days of restriction of freedom in a temporary detention facility," Herashchenko stated.

"As for the unprofessional and cowardly actions of patrol officers... everyone who failed to fulfill their duties will be fired after an internal investigation is over. Such a decision has already been made by patrol police chief Yevhen Zhukov," the MP concluded.

As reported earlier, at around 1 a.m. Aug. 30, several drunken men put up a brawl. They beat up a taxi driver, used foul language and attacked passers-by. Five police crews arrived at the scene but failed to calm the conflict. According to witnesses, patrol officers ignored the beating of people as well as threats and insults by the brawlers.
