A monument to honor Ukrainian theater and cinema actor Bohdan Stupka was raised on the eve of the actor’s 75th anniversary at Baikove Cemetery.

Censor.NET reports citing ZN.UA.

The ceremony was attended by relatives, colleagues, and numerous admirers of Bohdan Stupka.

The monument (130cm high) is a tree made of bronze and a platform of black granite decorated with images (made by graphic artist Serhii Yakutovych) of Bohdan Stupka. There is also an ancient Hutsul candlestick-trinity and a cross (the exact copy of the pectoral cross Stupka wore) poured on the monument.

The monument was made by Odesa sculptor and Stupka's friend Mykhailo Reva. They were friends for more than 15 years and Reva has seen Stupka as his spiritual mentor. Reva is also a godfather of the actor's grandson Bohgdan.

"I did not want to do something trivial: a mask or a hand. Bohdan Stupka has firmly taken roots into Ukrainian land. He is and will always be an integral part of Ukraine," Reva said.
