 New US Ambassador Yovanovitch arrived in Kyiv, presented copies of credentials to deputy foreign minister

On Tuesday, Aug. 23, newly appointed United States Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch handed over copies of her credentials to Deputy Foreign Minister-Chief of Staff Vadym Prystaiko.

During the meeting, the sides noted a high level of relations between Ukraine and the United States as well as the importance of their further development, in particular in the security and economic domain. They also exchanged views on the state and prospects of the Minsk process, discussed bilateral cooperation in the framework of the UN.

The ambassador stressed a qualitatively new level of the America-Ukraine relationship and reiterated the United States' readiness to continue assisting Ukraine in defending its territorial integrity, implementing reforms and fighting corruption.

Earlier, Aug. 18, 2016, previous head of the U.S. diplomatic mission in Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt left the country after three years in office.
