 Avakov suggests cutting number of Interior Ministry generals from 194 to 95

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has submitted a draft resolution on the reduction of generals posts within the National Guard, the Border Guard Service, the State Emergency Service, the National Police and the Interior Ministry to President Petro Poroshenko.

As he notes, the resolution stipulates leaving 14 out of 74 generals posts in the State Border Guard Service (42,000 employees); 18 out of 38 in the National Guard (46,000); 21 out of 27 in the State Emergency Service (73,000); 42 out of 57 in the National Police and the Interior Ministry (175,000).

Overall, the number of generals posts in all law enforcement and military authorities that are subordinate to the Interior Ministry will be reduced from 194 to 95.

Avakov stressed that this reduction is part of the structural military and law enforcement rank reform initiated by the president.
