"The Russian occupation troops' assault team attempted to covertly reach the attack line in the vicinity of one of our strong points near Popasna Aug. 14, 2016. However, thanks to the skilled organization of surveillance and battlefield security, the patrol from the 11th Mechanized Infantry Battalion of the 59th Brigade was able to timely detect the enemy. Our soldiers engaged in close combat with the militants. Both sides opened fire, employed grenades," he wrote.
"The occupiers failed to withstand close combat and started to retreat. The Russians left two wounded mercenaries on the battlefield. They bled to death. Reinforcing weapons were employed against the retreating enemy," the journalist added.

According to Butusov, the Ukrainian side sustained no losses.
"The defensive actions of the Ukrainian soldiers were successful due to the skilled leadership of platoon commander with call sign Sherman and company commander with call sign Professor. The meritorious soldiers were put forward for decoration," the journalist stressed.
"Platoon commander Sherman voluntarily enlisted in the Army in March 2014. He has been serving at the hottest sections of the front without breaks since then. His company was fighting without rotations over the last year. Sherman has been never decorated during this period, despite the fact that he was put forward for decoration by the battalion commanders. I hope that such images of the battle results will attract the attention of the Defense Ministry leadership to the awarding of deserving servicemen of the 59th Mechanized Brigade," Butusov summed up.
