The press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) of Ukraine informed, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
"The motion for arrest and pretrial confinement of Judge Chaus was promptly agreed by Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Romaniuk and referred to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Aug. 15," SAP reported.
SAP Deputy Head Volodymyr Kryvenko announced that the agency had drafted notice of suspicion of a crime and intended to serve it to Chaus Aug. 11. The agency members intend to initiate procedure of stripping him of his judicial immunity. The prosecutors may also appeal to Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andrii Parubii to convene an extraordinary session to do that.
Chaus did not show up at the NABU to be served notice of suspicion Aug. 11. The SAP intends to request the court to impose pretrial confinement on Judge Chaus with a bail equal to the amount of the bribe he has been caught accepting.
Earlier, NABU detectives nabbed Judge of the Dniprovskyi district court of Kyiv Mykola Chaus who was extorting and obtained an unlawful benefit in the amount of $150,000.
Chaus previously tried Euromaidan activists, convicted former leader of UKROP party Hennadii Korban, and made judgments in favor of Yanukovych's ally Yurii Ivaniushchenko also known in criminal world as Yura Yenakievskyi.
