 Russian militants fired at Ukrainian troops 42 times, used banned large-caliber weapons, IFVs, and AA guns, - Staff

The Russian invaders committed 42 attacks on the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces’ positions including with weapons banned by the Minsk agreements over the past 24-hour period.

Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO Staff press center as at 6 a.m. Aug. 12.

"21 enemy assaults were recorded at Mariupol section of the front. The armed provocations with the use of 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, large-caliber machine guns, and grenade launchers of various systems took place in Shyrokyne, Taramchuk, Vodiane, and Pavlopil. The enemy fired at positions in Berezove, Starohnativka, and Talakivka mainly with machine gun. The fortifications in Shyrokyne were shot at with IFV-mounted guns while anti-aircraft guns were employed against Chermalyk. Attacks with small arms were recorded in Starohnativka and Marinka. The enemy sniper committed assaults near Marinka during the hours of darkness," the latest update reads.

According to the Staff, the enemy opened fire at Donetsk section of the front half a dozen times: "The invaders fired at positions at the defense line between Avdiivka and Luhanske with grenade launchers, machine guns, and mortars. The fortifications at the Svitlodarsk salient were attacked with 120-mm and 80-mm mortars, high-caliber machine guns, and anti-aircraft guns. The enemy attacks with high-caliber machine guns were recorded in Leninske village. Small arms were used by the enemy to commit armed provocations in Verkhniotoretske and Zaitseve. Sniper attacks were also recorded in the vicinity of Verkhniotoretske."

It is also reported that positions of the Ukrainian defenders in Zhovte, Novooleksandrivka, Novozvanivka, and Popasna in the Luhansk region were shelled with grenade launchers of various systems. The enemy also committed strikes on Popasna with 82-mm mortars.

Earlier, the Russian terrorists opened fire on the positions of the Ukrainian troops 67 times Aug. 10.
