Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's MoD Valerii Kondratiuk said that according to available information, a shootout occurred between the Russian military and FSB border guards.
In turn, Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko noted that four cases of Russian drones penetrating into mainland Ukraine from the direction of Armiansk had been recorded over the last 24 hours period.
Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak reported that all SBU forces and means have already been placed on high alert.
"At the moment, meetings of anti-terrorist center coordination groups are being held. In order to prevent possible terrorist acts, particular attention is paid to ensuring the security of critical infrastructure as well as monitoring the activities of certain persons suspected of involvement in subversive activity," he noted.
Chief of the General Staff Viktor Muzhenko, in turn, said that Ukrainian army units which perform tasks in the vicinity of the administrative border with occupied Crimea are on high alert and being reinforced. He called Russian statements about the alleged firing by the Ukrainian military toward occupied Crimea absurd.
"This is nonsense that contradicts the reality. No artillery or any other fire was delivered. Any soldier or resident in that territory can confirm this as firing is well heard at a considerable distance," Muzhenko stressed.
On Aug. 10, the FSB released an official statement about averted terrorist attacks in annexed Crimea "prepared by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's MoD in order to target critical life-supporting and infrastructure facilities inside the peninsula." Further on, the FSB released a video with the alleged organizer of the thwarted "terrorist acts" in the occupied Crimea, Zaporizhia region resident Yevhen Panov.
National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov described the hysterical and false allegations by Russia's FSB as groundless and called them another element of Russia's hybrid war against Ukraine and an attempt to exacerbate the situation in the occupied territory.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, said that Ukraine "has switched to the practice of terror."
