This was stated by Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili, Censor.NET reports citing Espreso.TV.
"Putin menaced me with war back in 2006. He also ordered to prepare for war in 2006. Certainly, when they were preparing, we were doing the same thing. Georgia would not stand its ground then if Ukraine did not provide assistance. The war was waged in the so-called "South Ossetia" - the two mountain gorges and several dozen villages. Its territory is 1/10 of the Odesa region. When Putin brought 200,000-strong army there and deployed 200 aircraft to commit airstrikes on us, he definitely did not mean to seize the two gorges, he wanted to invade entire Georgia," he stressed.
Saakashvili added that Georgia was training its servicemen in Ukraine.
"Our military were trained in Ukraine. Ukraine provided us with the anti-aircraft capability, which was critical for us in the early days of the invasion. Ukraine supplied us with SAM Buk and we managed to bring down 12 Russian Tu-22 M3 bombers, which had never been shot down before," he said.
