 Russian militants fired at Ukrainian Armed Forces’ positions 61 times yesterday, clash reported in Starohnativka, - Staff

Russian occupation forces continue assaulting the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces’ positions, including with heavy artillery banned by the Minsk agreements.

Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO Staff press center as at 6 a.m. Aug. 8.

According to the Staff, the enemy committed 61 attacks on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the past 24-hour period, including 32 assaults at Mariupol direction.

"45 rounds fired by the enemy with 122-mm artillery hit positions in the village of Pavlopil. Marinka, Krasnohorivka, Lopaskyne, Vodiane, and Novotroitske were fired at with mortars and grenade launchers. The enemy attacked Shyrokyne and Starohnativka with large-caliber machine guns. The hostile forces employed armored vehicles in Shyrokyne, Starohnativka, and Marinka. Sniper attacks were recorded near Marinka and Hnutove thrice," the statement reads.

It is also reported that Ukrainian troops successfully repulsed the attack of the enemy subversive and reconnaissance group that stormed Starohnativka defenders' strongholds yesterday after midnight: "Ukrainian military sustained no casualties."

"The Russian occupation troops fired two dozen rounds with heavy 122-mm artillery upon Luhanske and Maiorsk at Donetsk direction. The heaviest strikes were recorded at the section of the front between Krasnohorivka and Avdiivka, where the enemy repeatedly shelled our positions with mortars of various calibers. About 50 mortar shells impacted positions there. It was tense in Svitlodarsk, Luhanske, and Troitske that were shelled with grenade launchers. The enemy employed IFV guns on the outskirts of Krasnohorivka and Luhanske," the staff reported.

The Staff also noted that the Russian mercenaries shelled positions in Lopaskyne in the Luhansk region with grenade launchers. In addition, the enemy committed indiscriminate attacks on the ATO forces' strong points in Zhovte and Popasna.

"The number of hostile unmanned aerial vehicles carrying out air reconnaissance significantly increased all along the front line. A total of six flights were recorded over the past day," the ATO Staff press center added.

Earlier, terrorists opened fire on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine 54 times on Saturday, Aug. 6.
