 Culprit in drunken car crash lawmaker Yevsieienko placed under house arrest, – prosecutor’s office. PHOTOS

Shevchenkivskyi district court of Kyiv has placed Member of Makariv (the Kyiv region) District Council (Batkivshchyna faction) Matvii Yevsieienko, charged of causing road traffic accident under influence in Kyiv July 29, under 24/7 house arrest until Sept. 30 as a pretrial restriction.

Spokesperson to Kyiv's prosecutor's office Nadiia Maksymets told Ukrainski Novyny, Censor.NET reports.

"He was placed under 24/7 house arrest until Sept. 30," she said.

The court also ruled that the suspect to wear an electronic bracelet, visit the investigator, and hand over his travel passport.

Earlier, Yevsieienko caused drunken car crash in Kyiv at about 1 a.m. July 29. Shortly before the accident he was involved in a conflict, during which made a shot with his handgun and started escaping from police officers in his Toyota. Two police cars chased him. During the chase, the lawmaker crossed into the oncoming lane and rammed a car with a trailer, which collided with Mazda driving behind it.

A man and a woman who were in the car he rammed had been seriously injured. They were taken to intensive care unit in grave condition.
