As reported by Censor.NET, former Commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation (1991-1992), former Deputy Commander of the Russian Federation Navy (1992-1999) Admiral Igor Kasatonov said in an interview with RIA Novosti news agency.
The warships' handover was suspended following the outbreak of hostilities in the south-east of Ukraine in 2014. The ships deployed at Donuzlav naval base are meant.
"The ships will be returned after normalization of relations between Kyiv and Moscow. We have even developed the return project since there are not only ships, but also other equipment and weapons including tanks. No one is going to hold them there," Kasatonov said.
It should be reminded that the handover of Ukrainian military equipment and weapons blocked and captured during the occupation of Crimea was suspended on the initiative of the Russian side June 17, 2014. A total of 35 ships, boats and other vessels of the Ukrainian naval forces were withdrawn from the ports of temporarily occupied Crimea to other ports of Ukraine as of June 17, 2014.
