 Premises of Bucha and Irpin mayors searched over seizure of 890 hectares of forest, - Lutsenko. PHOTOS

Today, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Interior Ministry conducted searches at 31 addresses, including the places of residence of Bucha and Irpin mayors, charged with the seizure of 890 hectares of forest.

Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

According to him, during 2006-2012, the suspected officials illegally passed land plots into the ownership of their friends and relatives as well as certain right people from Kyiv. In particular, former Verkhovna Rada First Deputy Chairman Ihor Kaletnyk was given 14 hectares of forest land.

"Interestingly, after the PGO, following the Revolution of Dignity, returned the land back to the state via court, the land dealers resumed the seizure. Thanks to public activists, MPs, and the efforts of law enforcers, we have put an end to the stealing behind high fence," Lutsenko said.

Earlier, the PGO conducted searches of the premises of Bucha Mayor Fedoruk. Irpin Mayor Karpliuk has fled the country.

As reported, dozens of premises have been searched as part of investigation into the seizure of Bucha forest.
