 Turkey's Erdogan greeted by crowds of supporters upon his arrival in Istanbul

Turkish President Erdogan's plane landed in Istanbul Ataturk international airport.

It was reported that Erdogan delivered a speech as he went out of the airport. He was greeted by crowds of supporters on his arrival.

Recep Teyyip Erdogan stressed that everyone involved in the coup attempt would be punished, adding that Turkey could not be intimidated.

Earlier, the Turkish army tried to seize control of the country to "defend democracy and the rights of citizens." Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan promised to find and destroy those responsible for the "occupation."

Later, the Turkish intelligence service said that the coup attempt was repelled. According to the local authorities, the situation was brought under control.
