 Poroshenko appoints scholarship to children of journalists Nikolaiev and Labutkin, killed in Donbas

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has appointed scholarship to children of journalists Serhii Nikolaiev and Dmytro Labutkin, who were killed in Donbas while performing their duties.

Censor.NET reports citing the president's press office.

The statement reads: "The president signed Decree No. 299/2016 appointing scholarship to children of journalists Serhii Nikolaiev and Dmytro Labutkin killed in Donbas during performance of their duties."

Scholarship was appointed to Valeria Kravchuk and Kira Labutkina.

Nikolaiev was killed in crossfire while covering fighting between Ukrainian troops and pro-Russian separatists in the village of Pisky on the outskirts of Donetsk Feb. 28, 2015. Serhii suffered serious injuries. The injury was caused by a fragment of a shell. Serhii arrived at Krasnoarmiisk hospital in Donetsk alive, but died later for his injuries turned out fatal. He was wearing a bulletproof vest marked "Press" at the scene.
