Ben Rhodes, the deputy U.S, national security advisor, said at a briefing in Warsaw, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
Ben Rhodes rejected suggestions the new deployments were escalatory. "What we are demonstrating is that if Russia continues this pattern of aggressive behaviour, there will be a response and there will be a greater presence in eastern Europe," The Guardian quoted Rhodes as saying. "We will not be in any way deterred from our commitments by anything Russia says or does."
Ben Rhodes assured that the U.S. would do everything to protect its partners and members of Alliance in Eastern Europe.
According to US official, the retaliatory sanctions will continue to act if Russia continues its course.
He also stressed that there was solidarity between the NATO member states and the U.S. would not allow Russia to undermine the unity of the Alliance.
